With all healthcare critical IT systems, and especially with enterprise scale systems, periodic checks for abnormal functioning are warranted. This includes not only monitoring and evaluation of error logs, but also active probing for fault conditions. In the context of an enterprise image data repository, this could include comparison of real-time repository system query responses with expected results, e.g., as recorded in a prior Inventory. It might similarly include retrieving a sample set of Studies using DICOM protocols and comparing the results with the same Studies retrieved using a non-DICOM protocol recorded in the Inventory. This use case aligns with current trends in continuous testing of cloud- and premises-deployed applications.
